Memory 4

True Neutral: Meeting the Twins
Won: Day 73
Game: anime pitches

Summary
The setting this time is a lush rainforest-like place. Flowers, giant ferns, trees that reach toward the heavens, a river that leads to a waterfall over a cliff that looks over even more trees. Birds are singing in the trees, little fairy-lights are flitting about, and it's all rather peaceful.

It is also raining. Hard.

Tan, Laura, and Laura's younger sister Kim are walking up-river; Tan is holding his hand over his eyes to keep the rain out, while Laura is huddling in a jacket while Kim helps her up over the more difficult boulders. They're keeping an eye out for shelter, any shelter, and eventually, they come across something: the source of the river is another waterfall, and there's a cave behind it.

They enter the cave, but then as Tan goes further in, he's blown into the wall by a sudden huge burst of wind. Before he can react, there's a red-haired boy holding him by the collar, telling him to get out. Him, and the girls.

Tan, in self-defense, summons flames around himself to get the boy to let go, responding that that was totally uncalled for and they just want a place to stay until the rain stops. The other boy, however, insists that this is their home, and everybody else should just leave.

It almost turns into a full-blown fight between the two of them, fire vs. wind. But a red-haired girl comes out and shouts at the boy to stop. ...And also summons a ball of water and dunks it on the pair of their heads. She then apologizes for the boy and says that if they want a place to stay until the rain stops, they're welcome.

Tan thanks her, and everyone introduces themselves. When the boy and girl introduce themselves as twin siblings Jennie and John Thompson, however, Tan remembers that he'd heard their names on the news a few days prior, in a high-profile case of abductions or something. John clarifies that they weren't abducted, they ran away - their parents are going through a terrible divorce, and they decided they can't stand it anymore and decided to come here instead.

Kim notes that not only is it true that not just anyone can come "here", but also the two of them are the same as her, her sister, and Tan - they've all suddenly developed mysterious powers. She then points out the perfectly-functional cat ears she's created for herself, and Laura, after being asked, takes a small uncut piece of metal and turns it into a perfect disk with only a touch. (Her necklace also glows during this.)

John doesn't seem pleased with things, but Kim convinces Jennie that it would be a good idea if their two groups combined to maybe figure out their powers, and, well, John isn't about to leave his sister behind. And so they stay the night in the cave.

What He Learns
☼ New names: Kim Mackentire, Jennie Thompson, John Thompson. Put to the faces of the unidentified people from Memory 1.
☼ Tan's last name is Moore.
☼ Kim is Laura's younger sister. (Hence, Laura's last name is also Mackentire.)
☼ Jennie and John are twins.
☼ The Thompson family is going through a really nasty divorce, and so the siblings got fed up and ran away.
☼ Jennie's power is water; John's is wind; Kim's has something to do with animals; Laura's is metal (but her necklace glows when she uses it which is odd)
☼ Tan is definitely a pyro.
☼ Not just anybody can come "here"? Means it must be a special place...
☼ Also no charm bracelet in this one, though he could have guessed it came before Memory 1 anyway.

Notes
Tan's POV doesn't really include the resolution of the twins' storyline, but the Thompson parents will be coming up again.

This part of paradise is brought to you half by Timon and Pumbaa's forest in The Lion King and half by Sholazar Basin from World of Warcraft.
