Memory 11

Positive Trivial: walking through the garden with his mother
Won: Day 92
Game: saving Jo's life

Summary
This memory is a little bit blurred around the edges, mostly due to its age - in it, Tom is 3. He's playing with a couple stuffed animals by himself, and his mother is in the room too, doing some needlepoint. Notably, this isn't the same house he remembers living in when he was 10, but at age 3 he lived here nonetheless.

Eventually, his mother puts down her needlepoint and asks if he wants to come for a walk with her out in the garden. Of course he puts down his toys and is excited to go with her, because he loves his mom <3 and the garden is nice. She goes to the kitchen and gets something out of the fridge before they go, which is a little odd, but Tom doesn't question.

Their house is out in less populated side of the suburbs, with a nice forest in the back and a pretty garden that his mom and dad have spent years putting together. Tom and his mom take a nice walk through it, just the two of them, and stop to smell a bunch of the flowers that just started blooming. Some of them are even Tom's height, and a couple of them make him sneeze because there's so much pollen.

They hear rustling in the bushes, and when they turn to look, there's a fox! Tom hides behind his mother's legs, but she just quiets him and tells him a secret - it's right to worry about most foxes, because they're predators after all, but there are a few around here that are special and like people. This one is one of them, and it walks up to Tom's mother calmly and rubs up against her leg. She then bends down and happily pets it, and takes Tom's hand to let him do the same. The fox is soft, and Tom laughs happily.

Tom's mother then pulls out what she took from the fridge - apparently she'd been saving some leftover chicken from the night before just for this, and offers some to the fox, who eats it hungrily and happily. Tom is distracted by a quiet whine a little further back in the bushes, though, and another fox, this one just a baby, comes tentatively walking out.

Something almost clicks the moment Tom's eyes meet the younger fox's, but he doesn't know what at the time. But the younger fox gains a little confidence and comes up to Tom, looking at him expectantly, and of course Tom will give this one pettings too. Tom's mom grins and asks the older fox (who she calls Ambre) if that's her kid, commenting that it looks like they'll be good for each other.

And then his mother helps him to give the younger fox some of the chicken meat too.

What He Learns
☼ Character introductions: Ambre
☼ Mom dere~
☼ He lived in a different house when he was 3 than when he was 10.
☼ ...yes the younger fox is a baby Fiere. Fiere gets from this that Ambre is his mother, just like Nina (whose name still isn't given but) is Tan's.
☼ Because fox buddies run in the family, apparently.
☼ Also Tan's mom was good at needlepoint.

Notes
This is Tan's earliest memory, chronologically.
