Summary
Red.
All he can see is a solid sea of red. Occasionally he'll see split moments of painful scenes dyed a scarlet hue - fleeing villagers here, burning houses covered in charred remnants there, giant forest fires everywhere - but not many.
Everything is also kind of numb. As in, Tan is barely conscious. He's vaguely aware of a pain in his back, as if someone took a knife to it, and of the sounds of screaming and the crackle of fire, but it feels like he's separated from everything, as if he's feeling and hearing things through a layer of water, or gel, or something.
Fiere doesn't have that luxury. He sees everything through Tan's eyes - all the spirits running for their lives, not that it'll help when the fires consume them anyway, the fires that come from his (human, Tan's) hands, that consume all the trees and the houses and the spirits and everything has to burn. He hears all the screams through Tan's ears, all the houses falling, all the trees burning, burning, burning. He feels everything with Tan's body - the pain in his back is nothing compared to everything else, everything hurts, even things that shouldn't be possible to hurt, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts it hurts it hurtsithurtsithurtsithurts
It hurts, so everything has to burn. Only when everything is burning will it end. It has to burn it has to burn ithastoburnithastoburn
One village burns. Then another. Then the next. All the spirits in every village burn with it. At least a thousand, if you count them up, but he's not interested in counting. It doesn't matter how many, they all have to burn.
He comes across a group of humans in a grove. But no matter, they have to burn too.
"Guys, stay back! I'll fight him alone, don't help me!"
One of the humans uses sonic powers to wall the two of them into an area together. But that doesn't matter. This one will burn, and then the rest will in their time. They have to it all has to burn it all has to burn
His sonic powers block the burning, so he'll take a more direct approach with the wooden sword, barely holding together because it's been set so badly aflame. And so he and the sonic human fight, the latter not attacking back, just dodging his every move.
And soon, a single mental call pierces the numbness.
{ Tan! Tan, are you in there? If you're in there, answer me! }
He knows that voice. ...Well, so much as it can be called a voice, considering it's more telepathy than anything. He tries to answer, and is almost surprised to find how much effort he has to put into just a single thought.
{ N...Norbert? }
{ Oh good. I was getting worried there. }
{ What's... going on? Where...? }
{ Don't freak out, okay? I'm gonna help you beat this. }
That is, of course, not exactly the thing you want to tell Thomas Moore in this situation, and he tries to actually strengthen his consciousness, only to mentally scream in agony as it all comes crashing on him at once - he can't command his body or his power, whatever is is burning everything and killing everything and destroying everything and everything has to burn but what if he doesn't want it to burn it has to but he doesn't want it to it has to he doesn't want
{ Hey! Tan! Focus on me, okay? }
He tries to focus, and Norbert tries (while dodging every one of his blows, somehow) to guide him through slowly and carefully regaining some control. Pick one thing, one small thing, and try and focus just on that.
Tan picks his left pinky finger. It takes a great deal of effort, but he does manage to flex it, which nets him praise from Norbert and boosts his confidence a little bit. Slowly, he focuses on expanding his interference, slowly - first the pinkies, which does little; then his toes, which throw off his body's balance by a tiny bit and force Fiere to compensate a little, slowing his movements down a tiny but somewhat noticeable bit, and he's going for a wrist to maybe disable his sword arm a little
but then Norbert trips. A rock he didn't notice.
He tries to scramble for influence over his arm but there's no time he won't dodge this one he prepares to strike while the human is down he will burn it all has to burn it hastoburnithastoburn
"Tan, stop!"
...And then he sees her, his vision clear for just a moment as she dives in front of Norbert to protect him, and his body freezes.
She wasn't supposed to be here. She doesn't have powers like they do, does she? Not just anybody can come here, why is she here? But then the vines wrap around his sword, further disabling what was already disabled because he can't move it's all wrong it has to burn but he can't move
Her hair, long and flowing and not under a hat, when was the last time he saw her not wearing a hat, he was sure she had cut it off, but there it is...
He can't hurt Rena. He can't hurt a girl, but especially not Rena.
but everything has to burn it all has to burn
He stands there, frozen, for what seems like an eternity. But then the strain of forcing that much influence (but it's instinct, he can't harm a girl, he can't) causes everything to collapse. It feels like his body is being torn apart from the strain. His vision is going completely red again. His hearing is still sharp, and he can hear his friends calling for him, "Tan, stay with us!", but the voices in his head are louder, the mad voice repeating with a tearful tone that everything has to burn and another, subtler voice emphasizing it.
And he screams and grabs his head in agony and his knees collapse beneath him because everything hurts everything hurts he doesn't want to kill anybody else but everything has to burn everything has to burn but he doesn't want to it has to burn no burn no no nononoburnnoburNNOBURNNOBURN
...and then in the middle of it all a memory, blurred in this memory except for one line, a male-ish voice, comes to him.
"Since you're her son, and all. Maybe you can do what I could not."
Without another thought, he manages to say... something. It's blurred in this memory.
(Did he hear Rena shout "Get down!"? It's hard to say.)
But the instant he says it, everything shatters.
For a moment, everything hurts even worse. The worst pain you can imagine? This is at least twice that, as his very soul shatters into pieces, like a glass sculpture dropping to the ground.
The pain quickly subsides, though echoes of it remain, but the split causes a huge explosion, with Tan at its center. A literal explosion, a huge fireball that he somehow just knows has the power to take out this entire section of forest with ease. Tan is unharmed because, well, fire elemental, but he can hear Norbert and Rena's screams as they're incinerated.
When that subsides, Tan collapses to the ground, everything drained from him. At least his vision isn't red anymore? ...Actually, what color there is is quickly draining, really. He can hear Jennie coming in close, calling out to Norbert and Rena, "Hang on! Please don't die! Just hang on!" He can see what's left of the trees, all of them incinerated to charcoal.
And then he slips into unconsciousness.
Now that the amalgam is broken, though, Fiere can actually think without devolving into everything needing to burn, and he's utterly devastated by what he's done, by what he's forced his human to do.
He has to run away. He's dangerous. He can't stay here.
So that's what he does. He picks a direction, and runs away. For a few minutes, he's vaguely aware of a dog barking and following after him, but eventually that gives up. He keeps running, though.
He has to run away.

BONUS if you've seen The Dragon (aka hi Roxy and Gloss, this is for you guys)
Yeah, this memory? This is what the Dragon forced Tan to flashback to. Except that instead of just the cushy numbness, the flashback includes Fiere's side of things, including all the murder. The flashback also comes with commentary, courtesy of the Dragon:
By your flames, Paradise burns.
By your power, a thousand spirits have perished.
By your hand, your friends have been incinerated.
And all because a foolish fox who does not know his place tried to take what is not rightfully his.
What He Learns
☀ AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
☀ NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
...What he'll gather after he actually gets past the shock (and what others can learn)
☼ SO FIERE SURE WAS POSSESSING TAN.
☼ And something else was controlling Fiere.
☼ Double Possession Reacharound, as they'd say in Homestuck I think.
☼ Everything had to burn
☼ So everything burned
☼ Killed over a thousand spirits
☼ Razed a bunch of villages
☼ Started a ton of forest fires
☼ Norbert tried to help him get back control and stop it
☼ And that was almost kind of working!
☼ Stupid rock that tripped him up.
☼ Rena has plant powers.
☼ No seriously, this is the first that's been mentioned of Rena having plant powers. Chronologically or regain order.
☼ (Granted, the genre savvy probably figured she was important already, but)
☼ Not being able to hurt girls kind of saved their butts here.
☼ ...Temporarily, because then he broke his soul.
☼ (Another mystery memory voice thing?)
☼ This is where Broken Soul started.
☼ This is why Broken Soul happened.
☼ And yes, he broke it himself. Somehow.
☼ ...If it's anything less than trying to save people from yourself why would you break your soul.
☼ That didn't even save them because it basically acts like nuclear fission
☼ ...so yeah, Norbert and Rena are probably dead
☼ He probably killed his two best friends
And for those who qualify for the bonus:
☼ This is what the Dragon forced him to flash back to
☼ "Paradise"?
