Negative Trivial: falling down a trap door
Won: Day 145
Game: jungle exploradora (featuring Fire Bro)
Summary
First, a list of the party at this point: there's Tan and Fiere, Norbert and his rabbit, Rena and her butterfly, Jennie and a flying fish in a floating bubble of water, John and an osprey, Kim and a little white kitten who is decidedly not just a construct, Laura and a sheltie, the twins' father - who happens to be Tony, the same man from the funeral - and a rosy boa, and Ambre.
The memory starts with Tony opening the front door to what appears to be a church. He calls out for a Jessica, trying to find out where she is, but there's no answer, so the group enters the narthex. It's a fairly simple place, if run-down - a set of stairs up to a choir loft (that is, as Kim finds out upon running up there quickly, cut off from the rest of the church by, of all things, a thick sheet of... ice?), a couple closets holding assorted items, and a set of doors leading into the main church, locked and unable to be opened by any means.
Even this much is big enough for the group to poke around a little though, so they all decide to look and see if there's a way to get further in. They need to find Jessica, after all.
Tan does a little poking around, but then notices that Laura is off by herself, looking at a stained glass window in one of the closets depicting an angel - one that's cracked in several places. Because he's been meaning to catch her alone to ask her about the bracelet, he goes over to talk to her, but before he can do that...
...well, the next thing he knows, the two of them are falling. He cries out in fear. (She doesn't, but again, mute.)
When he comes to after the fall (he comes to first, so he shakes Laura awake and makes sure she's okay), the two of them are in some underground catacombs that are covered in ice. Shooting some quick fire up at the ceiling reveals that the way they came down is closed off - they're going to have to find a different route out of here.
Fiere, obviously quite worried his human just fell down a trap door without him what if something really bad happened, calls out to him telepathically, and Tan answers best he can, they're okay, him and Laura both, just not sure where they are. Fiere relays that to the others, who are visibly relieved to know that, and then Norbert's telepathy cuts in, and the two of them agree to keep in contact. The main group will keep looking for clues in general, and Tan and Laura will stick together and try to find things down there while looking for a way back. Who knows? There might be clues down there, too.
Fiere then purposefully despawns and respawns by Tan's side. The sheltie should be able to do that with Laura too, but for some reason he doesn't. She doesn't seem too concerned though.
So Tan tells Laura the plan, she nods, and they start looking around.
What He Learns
☼ Character introductions: the sheltie, the bird, the fish, the cat, and the snake (none of whose names are mentioned), who are all partnered with assorted humans as mentioned above in a similar manner to Tan and Fiere
☼ ...or at least, most of them are, they've been apparently running with the assumption that Laura and the sheltie are partnered but there have been questionmarks...?
☼ How would there be questionmarks about that...?
☼ New party members: Anthony Thompson and Ambre
☼ ...So, Tony from the funeral is the twins' dad? The same one who was part of the divorce issues?
☼ What even happened there. He kind of looks older than he should have gotten in a decade...
☼ Aaaaaand this also means the twins' dad knew his mom. What a small world.
☼ It can be assumed that Tony has powers too, considering he's here.
☼ Also where did Ambre even come from? How is she still alive? It's been ten years!
☼ ...And yes Ambre can talk too but let's face it that's the least surprising part of that considering Fiere is her son.
☼ Also also, they're looking for a Jessica. Presumably the same one from the funeral and that his mom knew too.
☼ Jessica therefore presumably also has powers. Somehow, he wouldn't be surprised by ice.
☼ (What implications this might hold for his mom will still somehow go over his head unless they're pointed out.)
