Memory 2

Neutral Significant: The Playground Brawl
Won: Day 64
Game: bank heist

Summary
This memory takes place a little over three years prior to the previous ones. In it, [Tan] is twelve, and is hanging out on a school playground's swingset at recess with twelve-year-old Norbert and a blond girl, Rena. The three of them seem to be close friends, and are laughing and playing together and just in general having a good time, just the three of them.

Then they hear a scream. They all three look up at that, to see that on the blacktop, a bunch of boys from one of the classes in the year above them is picking on a girl. (Rena identifies the boys as from the class her older brother is in.) [Tan] immediately makes to run to defend her, but Norbert, ever the voice of reason, points out that a teacher has already noticed and that they should let him break it up rather than get involved.

In fact, a teacher is headed over to stop the fight, but instead, the class turns on him as well, and he ends up just trying to protect the girl. One of the boys has... something, it's hard to tell what, but he uses it as some kind of weapon, and it knocks the teacher to the side effortlessly. He doesn't get up, and the girl shrieks and scrambles to his side.

Now that a teacher is down, Norbert's misgivings can't stop [Tan] from jumping in, though he does tell Rena to run and find their teacher, or at least someone with authority who'd know what to do. Rena agrees, though a little nervously, and runs off. Norbert decides that, since he can't convince [Tan] not to, better to jump in too so he's not in there alone.

The boys try to close in on the girl, even as a little girl from a grade that would usually only be found in an earlier school in the district runs over and tries to protect the attacked girl, who is more or less in shock at this point and trying in vain to get the teacher to at least move. Before they can do any more damage, however, [Tan] punches one of them in the stomach, telling them that it's not nice to pick on girls. Norbert also kicks a guy, berating the attackers for not only trying to hurt the girl, but also downing a teacher, and almost going after a little kid. How low can these guys get?

Naturally, an all-out brawl breaks out, though the upperclassmen are sufficiently surprised by the turn of events that [Tan] and Norbert don't get too badly hurt. Just some scratches, some bruises, [Tan] gets a black eye, and Norbert thinks he might have chipped a tooth, but nothing life-threatening. It helps, though, that Rena comes out with not just the three of their teacher, but also the vice principal, who breaks up the fight and immediately calls for medical aid.

Everyone involved in the fight is then forced to march to the principal's office for proper consequences. Including [Tan] and Norbert.

What He Learns
☼ Character introductions: Rena, Alex (no name given)
☼ Rena has an older brother who's a jerk
☼ Some very basic information about the layout of his home school district and the school he went to when he was 12
☼ MORE IMPULSIVE GOOD DECISION MAKING!!!
☼ Hurting girls is bad and those boys should feel bad.
☼ ...No but seriously those boys somehow knocked a teacher out cold in one hit?

Notes
Folks who've seen Memory 1 (ie. hi Roxy) might note that the attacked girl greatly resembles a younger Laura, and the little girl trying to protect her looks suspiciously like a younger version of the girl with the animal golems. (Sol won't notice without prodding though...)

Also Alex is a teaching assistant, not a full-fledged teacher, but details. Twelve-year-old [Tan] didn't pay much attention to faculty that weren't related to his classes.

Also also this is only half the story of the playground brawl. The other half is a negative neutral, because it's [Tan] being told the other half of the story.
