Memory 10

Positive Significant: first flame
Won: Day 85
Game: build a curse

Summary
This memory picks up right after Memory 8, with Tan telling Kim that what she's told him is all a little hard to believe. After all, why would he have special powers like that? Far as he knows, he's perfectly ordinary. And okay, their powers are, in fact, a thing, but demons that react to negative emotions? Why don't you tell him another story while you're at it?

Before any response, however, there is a crash in the woods right behind Tan, and when he looks, there's a giant grey-black... thing standing there, its form half-formed and almost shimmering with darkness, with large pointed teeth shaped in a grin its only well-defined feature. It hisses a "found you~" before raising one of its claws for an attack.

Kim shouts to get down before creating a large bear-like golem to attack the thing, and Laura transmutes a spear (again, her necklace's glowing goes uncommented on). Tan's a little stunned for a moment, but when the creature slashes at the girls, he shakes it off, pulls out his wooden sword, and rushes in to help them, because even if he has no idea what's going on, like hell is he going to let them get hurt on his watch.

The battle is kind of a draw at first - Laura's stamina gives way pretty quickly, Kim ends up spending more energy protecting her sister than actually fighting the opponent, and Tan ends up knocked away like a fly. While Tan is getting up, though, the Null raises both arms to pound a prone Kim, and without a way to physically get there in time, Tan shouts her name and, out of some unknown instinct, reaches out in front of him with an open hand.

A fireball roars from his hand, hitting the surprised Null dead on. And Tan's surprise at it even happening gives it less control, which of course only makes it bigger, and combined with the injuries the Null has already sustained, the fire ends up big enough to char the thing in one shot. It falls to the ground, defeated, and then poofs away into shadows.

Tan just stands there, panting and looking at his hand in disbelief (and also some sense of elation), and once Kim and Laura have gotten themselves together, Kim just smiles and asks, "Believe me now?"

What He Learns
☼ Yeah those creatures at the cliff were definitely Null
☼ This was the first time he used his fire
☼ His fire's full potential is pretty big :D
☼ Controlling it better is probably key though...
☼ It didn't burn him here, so there's probably at least one skill missing about that
☼ No bracelet here, but that's to be expected

Notes
...Yeah, this isn't much more than "yup, he's a pyro". But it's still a pretty important moment.
