Trivial Negative: Rena's hair
Won: Day 128
Game: monster mash
Summary
It's the middle of the forest in the spirits' world at twilight, and Tan is cooking dinner over a campfire. Norbert and Rena are there, keeping him company, while the rest of the group is off doing other things to get ready for dinner and stuff. Fiere is there too, but he's off to the side, playing with a rabbit and a butterfly. It's not stated in this memory, but it's implied that they have similar bonds with Norbert and Rena, respectively, as Fiere has with Tan. They seem to be getting along rather well.
What led to this train of conversation? Who knows. But eventually Norbert innocently comments that he didn't know Rena had grown her hair out that long. She then responds that she never cut it in the first place, she's just kept it under the hat. When Tan asks why, she sighs and says that she feels like she has to in order to be treated like everybody else, rather than just a girl.
Tan says that that can't be right, she's Rena, of course they're going to treat her like Rena. But she then argues that he does it all the time. When they spar? He always holds back against the girls, and she's tired of it. She's not going to get any better if she's not going up against his best, after all. And when the younger boys see it, they see him treating the girls differently and think it's okay to do that themselves, and she worries they'll do it in less innocent ways.
Honestly confused by all of this, Tan asks if she wants him to hurt her.
And then Rena slaps him across the face and yells at him that she wants him to treat her like anybody else. And frankly, if the only way she was supposed to know exactly how strong he is was to almost be killed--
but then they all three go quiet, because this is still an awkward and sore topic.
