Trivial Positive: first snow day
Won: Day 129
Game: poetry slam
Summary
Tom, age 6, is getting dressed to go to school in the morning, but his father knocks on the door, telling him to look outside. And he does, to find that it snowed overnight! Tom is excited because it's always exciting when it snows this much - only a couple inches, but it's still going. To top it off, because things haven't been able to be plowed yet at all the schools in the district, they've cancelled school for the day.
Of course, while school called a snow day, his dad's work didn't, so he still has to go in. Which Tom says is unfair, but his dad just shrugs and says that's how it goes when you're an adult.
So when his dad leaves, Tom stays home, and is preparing to spend the day by himself... again... except there's a rapping at the door after a few minutes.
It's Berty and Rena! All dressed up in thick coats and wanting to know if Tom wants to come build snowmen with them. Because they, being in the same school (obviously), also have the day off, and so do all the kids in the neighborhood, so it'd be best if they got started sooner so they have the best pick of the snow.
And of course he says yes. He goes and gets his coat (a little less thick than most, he's never really minded the cold), and the three of them head out.
What follows is a day of fun in the snow. Building snowmen, a snowball fight against Rena's brother and his friends, snow angels when they get tired, and Mrs. Quinn even brings everybody hot chocolate at one point.
All in all, just goes to show how fun it is to spend the day with your friends.
